heat shutting off...

heat will periodically shut off and blow air (no heat) hitting the reset button to fire up heater, will sometimes run ok for a while but then shut off and go back to blowing cold air

0 I had this same issue when we first fired up the furnace after refilling the oil tank. It could be air in the line. Put a bleed hose over the drain nipple/valve at the bottom of the pump and crack it open while the pump kicks on. (Drain the oil into a small can.) It will be cloudy (bubbly) for a few seconds, then will turn clear. When it's clear, tighten the valve. Note: a 5/16 or 7/16" boxed end wrench works best for this job.
