My smoke alarm started chirping loudly - once per minute which seems to signify a need for a new battery which I replaced. The detector continues to chirp once per minute anyway. In fact, the detector chirps even without a 9V in it which seems bizarre...?

5 We've had the same problem over the last 4 years. I don't know how to fix it. We've tried replacing the battery with different brands. We've tried leaving the battery and power disconnected for weeks at a time. Nothing seems to reliably stop these things from chirping. I HATE these stupid BRK 4120SB 's.

5 We just replaced the batteries in our three smoke alarms. (model above) and the one smoke alarm didn't stay attached and was hanging from the wires. My husband just screwed it back in and now it won't test and has finally stopped chirping. Any ideas?

4 that model will chirp for about 15 minutes if you hit the silence button when you are installing battery. Wait for about 15 minutes it should reset and operate normally after. We just had same problem and looked at the manual online.
