After 6 years of flaweless operation the thermostat is blank, as if there is no power to it. However, no electrical changes have been made in the house and the upstairs thermostat continues functioning. I opened the thermostat and do not see any loose wires. All connections appear intact. What shoud I check?

3 I had the same problem recently and found a safety switch on the blower compartment door had moved just enough to kill all power to the furnace and tstat. A minor adjustment solved the problem.
