Just recently the pilot light went out in the fireplace. I went through the lighting proceedure the light came on and I waited about 20 to 30 seconds and released the button and the light went out. After about 4 0r 5 attempts and it not staying lit I held the button for about a minute and a half and then it worked. I let it stay on over night with not problem. I then turned it off and and re-light it successfully. I then turned the control knob to the ON position, as soon as it snapped into place the pilot light went out. I tried once more by turn my remote reciever to the on position then turned the control knob to on very slowly, the main burner lit as it should and I let the knob lock into the ON possition. I turned the burner off and on a few times with success. I'm wondering why the pilot light won't stay on when turning the knob at a normal pace and why the pilot light went off in the first place. I'm thinking it might be the thermpile getting weak. Any idea's? One other thing, according to my manual the burner and control system consists of: Main burner, pilot burner, gas orfice, thermopile and combination millivolt gas valve.
