We just installed our cooktop. It has an E displayed and is turning on and off by itself. Does it have to run a cycle?

Based on the symptoms you are describing, it appears your Electrolux cooktop (EW36CC55GS2) may possibly have a loose connection, a potential wiring failure or a communication error with the maintop.
