5 Are your detectors hard wired to a central alarm box? If so you can silence the alarm from there. If they are the kind that have a 9v battery there should be a test button and or a silence button. The house or apt needs to clear of smoke and then the alarms can be reset utilizing the silence button and then the press and hold in the test button. This will test the alarm and then press test again to turn off the test. If that does not work take the battery out and then replace with a new one. Remember all smoke detector/alarm and carbon monoxide detector/alarm batteries should be replaced with new batteries every time daylight savings occurs.
