I'm getting a really bad smell that seems to be emanating from the back of the refrigerator. I think that it is the result of a liquid (milk based) that spilled in the freezer and somehow ran down into the back of the unit and spoiled there. I'm at a loss as to how to get to whatever it is and clean it out. HELP!!! I NEED TO BE ABLE TO BREETH IN MY KITCHEN AGAIN :(

0 Hello gospix, I definitely see how this can be very frustrating! According to my research, I came across that using coffee beans or baking soda may help eliminate or absorb the odor. Otherwise, if the smell that is coming from your refrigerator is more of a rotting odor, it would be advisable to reach out to a professional to access/remove or take your refrigerator apart for cleaning. I hope this proves to be helpful to you. Best of luck!

0 Thanks for the reply ChrisPolk. I'm happy to say that I found the problem myself. It was the freezer drain pan below the refrigerator! I never knew it existed until now :p It seems that the spill in the freezer ran down there and went bad (really bad) in the tray. I was able to clean it out (bleach) and now the scent is gone! Pass it on... someone else may be having a similar problem and needs the info. Btw, the one on my refrigerator couldn't be removed so I ended up purposefully "spilling" some bleach water in the freezer so it could retrace the path the original mess took. It soon ran back out in the tray under the unit. I did this a couple times until the tray looked full, left it to soak a bit to loosen up any stubborn stuff, then vacuumed it all out with a wetvac. Problem solved) :)
