A friend recently gave me his Hitachi HT40S. I've just set it up for the first time. When I move the arm into position and it begins turning, I switch the arm lifter to the down position. The arm then lowers itself onto the record, and slides inward about an inch, it then stops there. I don't currently have it attached to any speakers. I was just testing whether the player worked because my friend has not used it for some years. Any advice or help in this situation would be appreciated. Thanks.
