My Hotpoint VTD00 tumble dryer won't stop when doo...

My Hotpoint VTD00 tumble dryer won't stop when door is opened. Have to turn timer to zero to get it to stop. When I press start button it makes a buzzing sound. When I turn timer, it starts by itself. Could it be the solenoid?
