5 To change drive belt on John Deere LT150. There 3 ways to do it. The wright way, the wrong way and my way. I can only give you my way and I am by no means an expert. I suggest you go to your JD dealer and get a print-out of the belt drive train. It will be a big help. 1. Pull chrome plated spring loaded deck pins, drop mowing deck at rear. 2. Pull carter pin at end of adjustment rod at front of 38" deck. 3. Slide deck from under tractor and raise tractor a few inches if possible. 4. Loosen idler pulley at left front of tractor (located about 8" from drive pulley) using 1/2 wrench. Use caution removing the tension spring attached to the idler pulley. 5. Remove or loosen pulley on extreme right side in order to get old belt off the pulley. (pulley guard keeps belt in place) 6. Remove the carter pins from steering mechanism and lift the two tie rods from their nest. 7. The belt can now be removed. You may need to press the deck pedal to get the belt past the lift mechanism. 8. Place the new belt on the rear pulley and on the left front idler pulley. Put the Idler pulley in place and tighten the nut. Be certain not to get the pulley upside down because the tension spring hooks to it. 9. Put the belt on the extreme right side pulley, replace pulley with pulley retainer positioned properly and tighten the 1/2 nut. 10. After all pulleys are in place with the belt on them except the drive pulley, put the belt on the drive pulley by turning the pulley and rolling it on. 11. Replace the tension spring. Reconnect the tie rods and carter pins and it should be ready to go. Release the brake at the rear of the mower to allow the drive belt to tighten. Test your results before replacing the mowing deck. GOOD LUCK
