How do I install a surface ignitor on the outside ...

How do I install a surface ignitor on the outside of the burner of a gas Kitchenaid cooktop? I have the replacement part, but do I disassemble the burner or do I pop the old one out and put the new one in? It's about 15 years old so it's a little stuck. Thanks!
