I have a LG DRT389H DVD Recorder/Player and for so...

I have a LG DRT389H DVD Recorder/Player and for some reason the subtitles have appeared and i cannot get rid of them I have tried pressing the subtitles button but it does not help to get rid of them i have also tried the TV remote but that does not work either, is there an answer to this problem.
