5 If you haven't fixed this yet, just remove the screws from the door hinges. AFter that is done, look under the front side at the very bottom, under the edge of the front panel. There are two screws, one on each side of the front of the cabinet. After removing them, pull the front from the bottom and it should swing up and you should be able to get it off of the cabinet. Then you must work the belt that is around the drum off of the back by reaching your hands in, on top of the drum. You will feel the belt as it is wrapped around the drum. Roll the drum a little and push the belt off away from you as you do so. It will ball off the back of the drum. You must them pull the drum out the front of the dryer to get at the belt. BE VERY CAREFUL INSIDE THE DRYER, THERE ARE SHARP EDGES ALL OVER THE PLACE. ALSO, PAY VERY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE WAY THE BELT IS WRAPPED AROUND THE PULLEY AND IDLER IN THE BACK OF THE DRYER. Most of Maytags dryers, at least those made before Feb. of 2008 work this way. When you buy the belt from the dealer it usually has a diagram on the package to help reinstall it. Then just reverse the steps and button everything up and you should be ready to plug it back in and start it up.
