0 What exactly are you calling a string holder. The string and starter pawl (an off white disc that resembles a pulley) should come off with the starter cover. The starter pawl is held in place with a single screw located in the center of the pawl. Be careful not to dislodge the recoil starter spring when you lift the pawl out.
