LOCKUP ON HE PULL START...

I HAVE NOT USED MY F401 FOR A YEAR, AND WHEN I PULLED ON THE STARTER LINE IT LOCKED UP, LIKE IT WAS IN GEAR. WHAT COULD BE THE ISSUE? PLEASE ADVISE ASAP?? BILL / ALAMO CA
