I was given a phillips television model # 24st2200...

I was given a phillips television model # 24st2200/27 and I need to know how to hook it up. I also want to know why my volume is not working even without the tv being hooked up? Please if someone can get back with me asap I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance for your help.
