what does the error message "incorrect disc" mean when using the dvd player on a VCR/DVD combo player mean

5 That most likely means that it cannot recognize the disk. The main reasons for this are; 1. that you have put a blu ray, or hd dvd in it 2. the disk that you have put in it is dirty/scratched and cannot be read 3. the lens inside is dirty or malfunctioning Obviously for (1) you would use an appropriate disk. For (2) you can clean it with a microfiber cloth and water or take it to a game store to be resurface. For (3) you COULD try a lens cleaning kit but a new dvd player is most likely required.
