when i1, tune a tv channel the audio and channel m...

when i1, tune a tv channel the audio and channel match. when i use my dvd player, the video is ok, but i hear the tv channel audio....Why? I have plugged in the audio cables in variuous red/white females without receiving a matching dvd audio/video.
