sharp fax nx100 won't fax, it dails, connects, i ...

sharp fax nx100 won't fax, it dails, connects, i press start and nothing happens. line error shows Com E. 1. also when i do a copy it has two big lines on the page. Both of these things just started. I have tried to reset the factory settings but this hasn't helped.
