SUB ZERO 550 PROBLEM: Freezing inside - above crispers on left side also water dripping and freezing inside bottom freezer drawer. I caulked the area where the water was leaking inside the freezer and it stopped the ice from building up - but I have the freezing happening inside the refrigerator above the crisper drawers on the left side. I have used a hair dryer to remove the ice several times but it keeps building up. Please advise how much it would cost to have the problem(s) taken care of. Is it at all possible to do it myself? I previously had someone come out to replace the compressor on the freezer - which did take care of the frost build that kept building up in the entire freezer and the swooshing sound returned. Now it is gone again. I paid the repair guy charged me $600 to just put a small piece he said was a compressor into the freezer unit. Please advise how much I should pay to have the current problem repaired. Thanks

0 I HAD THIS PROBLEM ALSO. I DISCONNECTED THE DOWNSPOUT TUBE AND SNAKED/WRIGGLED A PIECE OF FLEXIBLE COPPER WIRE DOWN THE TUBE. I USED MULTISTRAND 12 GAUGE, 24 INCHES OR SO, STRIPED THE INSULATION AND APPLIED ELECTRICAL TAPE ABOUT EVERY 1 1/2 INCHES TO KEEP THE STRAND TOGETHER. WRIGGLED IT DOWN AS FAR AS POSSIBLE, PUT IT UP THROUGH THE DOWNSPOUT DRAIN, BEHIND THE RUBBER SEAL SO IT ENDED UP ON THE BACK WALL OF THE FRIDGE AND TAPED IT THERE. I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEM FOR OVER A YEAR WHERE BEFORE I WAS DEFROSTING THIS EVERY MONTH OR SO. THIS CAN ALL BE DONE WITHOUT PULLING THE FRIDGE.

0 I've had the same problem with the drain tube freezing. I tried the wire solution and it exetnded the time when I had to do the hair blower defrost. I heard the Subzero had a fix so I called service and they installed a heating element in the back of the fridge and NNO MORE PROBLEM! The cost including parts was abput $250
