A light layer of ash can clog the jets right by the pilot light. To repair remove the racks and door first then remove the 2 screws securing the bottom cover. Then remove the flame deflector exposing the jets and pilot light. You should be able to see where it's clogged and remove debris with a wire brush and finish with a blast of air from a compressor.
