0 If you can't find a replacement, you may be able to use the parts to make a new one. You'll need at least 1/4" of original cable stubbed out from the hook ends. If you have that, it can be fixed! Here's how... First, pull the oven out of the wall and support it on sturdy sawhorses with a piece of 3/4" plywood... the MSC229 oven units are HEAVY!. Then go to Home Depot/Lowe's/Ace and get a good length of 1/16" wire cable in the rope section. In that section, you'll find ferrule packs for 1/16" cable. You'll need one pack for each cable you intend to repair. Cut out the broken frayed section of the original cable with wire-cutters/dikes. Thread the ferrule onto the stub and then thread in the section of new cable into the ferrule. The ferrule should be within 1/4 inch of the original hook... not out in the middle or near the middle. Have about 1" of new cable sticking through the ferrule and then pound the ferrule tightly closed with a hammer against concrete or side of another hammer. Repeat with the other end of the original cable adjusting the length of new cable prior to pounding on the second ferrule for a total length of about 10-1/8 inches out to out. Hook into the hinge end, then carefully thread the repaired cable into the side channel of the oven and make sure it fits under the roller and then into the roller channel. Take a pair of needle nose pliers and pull the counterspring towards the hook end of the cable... hook and you're done! It's good practice to repair both door cables (each side of the door) at the same time because when one goes, the other starts getting stressed and separating and is eventually going to fail, too.
