The lower heating element arced, burned a hole in its lower side and spit out a glob of melted metal. After the panic subsided I could see that the control panel display had gone dark. I have just replaced the heating element, but there is still no visible life in the control panel. The oven light and stove top igniters work fine, suggesting that at least power is still getting to the lower voltage portions of the oven.

0 I have also experienced the shorting/failure of a heating element (broiler element) and a completely dark control unit. DO I need to replace the control unit as well as the element? Thanks.
