Tried reset - power goes to unit, but nothing happ...

Tried reset - power goes to unit, but nothing happens. There are 2 metal pieces bolted inside and one moves freely and the other stays where it is? What could this be? Whirlpool Garberator Model GC2000 1/2 horsepower Also I am in New Westminster, Brititsh Columbia, CANADA where can I get whirlpool service?
