I sync cd's to computer, then synced to mp3. Then ...

I sync cd's to computer, then synced to mp3. Then I pulled up a artist that was on player already and hit the clear button and now when I try to go to album or artist, it shows no list. And also said there is an error. How do I reset the mp3?
