Question About Zenith Flat Panel Television 50pc3db-ue

Sometimes when my husband turn the tv off, I come in a few minutes later and try to turn it back on, but there's no picture. I hear the sound, but nothing is on the screen. I unplug it for maybe 30 minutes, then plug it back in and it comes on. How do I get it to turn on and off correctly?
