Whenyouturnonanapplianceoratoolthatoperatesusingamotorortubes,itrequiresaninitialsurgeofpower
tostart up. Thissurgeof powerisreferred toas the "starting load"or"peak load". Once started,the tool or
appliancerequireslesspowertocontinue
tooperate.Thisisreferredtoas"continuousload"intermsofpower
requirements.Youwillneedtodeterminehowmuchpoweryourtoolorappliancerequirestostartup(starting
load) andit's continued running powerrequirements (continuous load).Power consumption israted eitherin
wattage(watts)orin
amperes(amps)andthisinformationisusuallystampedorprintedonmostappliancesand
equipment. Ifthis information is not indicated on the appliance or equipment, check the owner's manual or
contactthemanufacturertodetermineifthedeviceyouareusingiscompatiblewithamodifiedsinewa vesource.

To determine whetherthe inverter will operatea particular piece ofequipmentor appliance, run atest. The
inverters are designed to automatically shut down in the event of a power overload. This protection feature
preventsdamagetotheunitwhiletestingappliancesandequipment
withratingsinthe200wattrange.
Ifan appliance inthe 200wattrange willnot operateproperly whenfirstconnectedtothe inverter,turnthe
inverterrockerswitchON(I),OFF(O),andON(I)againinquicksuccession.Ifthisprocedureisnotsuccessful,itis
likelythat
theinverterdoesnothavetherequiredcapacitytooperatetheapplianceinquestion.

• Theinverterisequippedwithacoolingfan,whichisdesignedtorunforseveralsecondsuponstartup,but
willturnoff until thetemperaturereaches 50°C‐
60°C(122°‐140°F)while theinverterisoperating,at
which time it will turn on again to cool the inverter. Automatic shutdown cause d by hi gh circuit
temperatureswilloccurwhenthecoolingfanisunabletomaintainacoolenoughtemperatureforsafe
operationoftheinverter.
