Whenyouturnonanapplianceoratoolthatoperatesusingamotorortubes,itrequiresaninitialsurgeofpower
tostartup.Thissurgeofpowerisreferredtoasthe"startingload"or"peakload".Oncestarted,thetoolor
appliancerequireslesspowertocontinue
tooperate.Thisisreferredtoas"continuousload"intermsofpower
requirements.Youwillneedtodeterminehowmuchpoweryourtoolorappliancerequirestostartup(starting
load)andit'scontinuedrunningpowerrequirements(continuousload).Powerconsumptionisratedeitherin
wattage(watts)orin
amperes(amps)andthisinformationisusuallystampedorprintedonmostappliancesand
equipment.Ifthisinformationisnotindicatedontheapplianceorequipment,checktheowner'smanualor
contactthemanufacturertodetermineifthedeviceyouareusingiscompatiblewithamodifiedsinewa vesource.

Todeterminewhethertheinverterwilloperateaparticularpieceofequipmentorappliance,runatest.The
inverters aredesignedtoautomaticallyshutdownintheeventofapoweroverload.Thisprotectionfeature
preventsdamagetotheunitwhiletestingappliancesandequipment
withratingsinthe200wattrange.
Ifanapplianceinthe200wattrangewillnotoperateproperlywhenfirstconnectedtotheinverter,turnthe
inverterrockerswitchON(I),OFF(O),andON(I)againinquicksuccession.Ifthisprocedureisnotsuccessful,itis
likelythat
theinverterdoesnothavetherequiredcapacitytooperatetheapplianceinquestion.

Theinverterisdesignedtooperatefroma12voltpowersourceonly.Donotattempttoconnectthe
invertertoanyotherpowersource,includinganyACpowersource.

Theinverterisequippedwithacoolingfan,whichisdesignedtorunforseveralsecondsuponstartup,but
willturnoffuntilthetemperaturereaches50°C‐
60°C(122°140°F)whiletheinverterisoperating,at
which time it will turn on again to cool the inverter. Automatic shutdown cause d by hi gh circuit
temperatureswilloccurwhenthecoolingfanisunabletomaintainacoolenoughtemperatureforsafe
operationoftheinverter.
