Prepareyourunitforstorageat the end
of theseasonor if it will notbe usedfor
30 days ormore.
WARNING:
• Allow the engineto coot,and secure
the unitbeforestoring or transporting.
• Storechainsaw and fuelin a well
ventilated area where fuel vapors
cannot reach sparks or open flames
from water heaters, electric motors or
switches, furnaces, etc.
• Store chainsaw with all guards in
place and position chain saw so that
any sharp object cannot accidentally
cause injury.
• Storechainsawwell out ofthe reach
of children.
EXTERNAL SURFACES
Ifyourchainsaw is tobe stored for a
periodoftime,clean itthoroughlybe-
fore storage.Store in a cleandry area.
• Lightlyoilexternalmetal surfaces and
guide bar.
• Oil the chain and wrap it in heavy pa-
per or cloth.
FUEL SYSTEM
UnderFuelingEnginein the Operating
Section ofthismanual,see message
labeled IMPORTANTregardingthe use
ofgasohol inyourchain saw.
Fuelstabilizerisan acceptablealtema-
tire in minimizingthe formationof fuel
gum depositsduringstorage.Add stabi-
lizer to the gasolinein the fueltank or
fuel storagecontainer. Followthe mix
instructions found on stabilizercontain-
ers. Run engineat least 5 minutes after
adding stabilizer.
CRAFTSMAN40:1, 2-cycle engine oil
(air cooled) is especially blended with
fuel stabilizer. If you do notuse this
Sears oil, you can add a fuel stabilizer
to your fuel tank.
ENGINE
• Remove sparkplugand pour1 tea-
spoonof 40:1, 2-cycle engine oil (air
cooled) through the sparkplug open-
ing.Slowly pull the starter rope 8 to
10 times to distribute oil.
• Replace spark plugwithnew one of
recommended typeand heat range.
* Cleanair filler.
• Check entireunitfor loose screws,
nuts, andbo_ts.Replaceany dam-
aged, broken,or wornparts.
. At the beginningof the nextseason,
useonly fresh fuel havingthe proper
gasolinetooll ratio.
OTHER
• Do notstore gasolinefrom onesea-
sonto another.
