Making and Answering Calls
Tones
When making a call or using a feature, you may hear a
different tone. Each tone has a different meaning.
Tone
Meaning
Dial tone (steady tone)
You can make a call.
Busy (slow repeating tone)
The phone you are calling is
busy.
Fast busy (fast repeating
tone)
No lines are available.
Alternating high and low
You dialed a number
tones
incorrectly or misused a
feature.
Confirmation tone (double
You used a feature properly.

Callback tone (five short
The outside line or the

extension is busy and your
phone is programmed for
