Setting up Wi-Fi
Using a network card, you can connect directly to an
Ethernet network. Ensure you purchase and configure a
network card that is compatible with your device. Before
you begin, obtain the following information from your
network service provider: user name, password, and
domain name. For more information, tap or contact your
service provider.
1. From the
Start
menu, tap
Settings
→
Connections
tab
→
Wi-Fi
→
Network Adapters
tab.
2. Select the network you want to connect to from the
drop-down list.
3. Select the appropriate network adapter from the
Tap an
adapter to modify settings
section.
4. Select
User server-assigned IP address
to use the IP
address automatically assigned from the server. Skip to
step 8.
Select
Use specific IP address
to set the network
addresses manually. Continue the next steps.
5. Enter the IP address, Subnet mask, and Default
gateway.
6. Tap the
Name Servers
tab.
7. Enter the DNS addresses and the WINS addresses.
