4. The fan assembly is made up of two pieces, an air baffle and the fan.
Release the air baffle by pressing the plastic tab1 as shown, then remove the
air baffle from the inside of the rotating bay assembly.
5. Release the fan by pressing the two plastic tabs3 as shown. Slide the fan
downward until the retaining tabs 2 are released, then remove the fan from
the inside of the rotating bay assembly.
6. Position the new fan in the rotating bay assembly and snap it into place.
7. Position the new air baffle in the rotating bay assembly and snap it into place.
8. Reconnect the fan cable to the system board connector.
9. To complete the installation, go to “Closing the cover and connecting cables.”
Closing the cover and connecting cables
After replacing FRUs, you need to install any removed parts, replace the cover, and
reconnect any cables, including telephone lines and power cords.
1. Ensure that all components have been reassembled correctly and that no tools
or loose screws are left inside your computer.
2. Lower the drive bay assembly to the normal position.
3. Clear any cables that might impede the replacement of the cover.
4. Position the cover over the chassis and pivot it down over the computer until it
snaps into place.
