Installing the Courseware Server Software
You must install the SuccessMaker courseware server from a Windows
workstation. The Windows workstation must be in the same network as the
server where you installed the SuccessMaker Enterprise v1.6 system. The
workstation, which is referred to as the install station, must have a CD-ROM
or DVD-ROM drive.
Important! You must install the software from a Windows workstation,
even if you will only be using Macintosh workstations to access the
courseware.
To install the courseware server, complete the following steps:
1. Set up user and group file rights. See “Setting User and Group File
Rights” on page 98.
2. Install the courseware. See “Installing the Courseware” on
page 139.
3. Verify the courseware installation. See “CD Verification” on
page 140.
Setting User and Group Course File Rights
You must assign course file rights to the user and group specified in the table
below.
Assigning Course File Rights to Install SuccessMaker for
SMadmin
1. Run the z:\public\win32\nwadmn32.exe management
application. (Where z: is the drive mapped to the public folder of
your server.)
2. Right-click on the SMadmin user, and then click Details.
3. Click Rights to Files and Directories on the right side of the dialog
box.
4. In the Volumes box, click Show, and then select the VOL1 volume.
5. In the Files and Directories box, click Add. The Select Object
window appears.
