Microsoft Windows 2003 Server with Active
Directory Services
Note: This section explains how to modify the Active Directory policy for
minimum password length and complexity. Pearson Digital Learning
recommends that you check your school’s password requirement policy.
Modifying Domain Security Policy
1. Log on to your Windows 2003 server as a user with administrative
rights.
2. On your desktop, click Start, point to Settings, and then click
Control Panel.
3. In Control Panel, open Administrative Tools.
4. Double-click Domain Security Policy. The Domain Security
Settings window appears.
5. Click the plus (+) sign, next to the Expand the Account Policies
folder. Select Password Policy. A list of password policy options
appears.
6. Select the Minimum password length option. The Minimum
Password Length Properties dialog box appears.
7. Select the Define this policy setting check box.
8. In the Characters box, type or select 0 as the password length, and
then click OK.
9. Select the Password must meet complexity requirement option
from the right pane of the Domain Security Settings window.
